Educational Insights for a Better World

Coalition partner, Generation 2050, is a humane education book publisher based in the United Kingdom. They utilize the power of stories to educate and inspire citizens of the future to act with compassion towards people, the planet, and other animals. Generation 2050 has published a unique collection of 9 children’s books covering a broad range of critical topics. We couldn’t wait to read the books they generously sent for us to check out.
Their most recent title, Kitten Rescue Tales, features two real-life stories, written by Vicky Alhadeff and Katherine Napper, of rescued kittens in London and in the Las Alpujarras mountains of Spain. The cats in both stories experience a rough start in life and fortunately receive the care and kindness they desperately need. In this book, you’ll find humane concepts such as animal homelessness and abandonment, responsible pet guardianship, proper cat handling and body language, the importance of early socialization, overpopulation issues, and even pet loss.
In Rafi’s Indian Dream by Nicola Gothard, a lonely street dog named Rafi meets an orphaned girl named Arushi, and they set out on a great adventure across India. This uplifting tale incorporates messages of compassion and friendship while addressing the serious issue of homeless dogs in India. Readers will also explore topics of culture and geography.
Another of Generation 2050’s books, Max & Bertie Bring Back Bees by Nicola Gothard, is a creative story of one child’s efforts to save bumblebees in his community. The humane theme of the plight of bees in our world, including habitat destruction and the use of pesticides, is coupled with a valuable series of key words (and an accompanying glossary) for vocabulary development and discussion.
These books, and several others, can be purchased online in both e-book and print formats. Don’t forget to check out their free resources that complement and enhance the learning outcomes of their books!
